Elizabeth Wegner, LCPC

I’ve worked with children, teens, and their families for over 20 years. Over the course of my career, I’ve seen how the high levels of stress that parents experience impacts the whole family system. I specialize in supporting parents who are frustrated, overwhelmed, and experiencing power struggles with their children, especially around screens and technology use.

I began my career at Metropolitan Family Services in Chicago, where I specialized in counseling children and families who had histories of myriad issues: adoption, grief, loss, infertility, trauma, behavioral struggles, or attachment difficulties. I moved to Connecticut in 2007 and worked at Wheeler Clinic in the Children’s Outpatient program focusing on children’s behavioral and emotional difficulties and parenting struggles, using trauma-informed interventions and DBT. More recently, I became a certified parent coach through the Parent Coaching Institute and worked at PM Pediatrics as a parent coach before starting my own private practice in parent coaching and joining Casas Counseling.

My approach is client centered. If you work with me, you can expect, that I will bring clarity and accountability to your goals, building on current strengths and turning stress and frustration into motivation for action. I will also help you understand how you were raised, influences your attachment styles and how you engage with others as adults. I will work with you to improve your current relationships and to have more fulfilling relationships going forward.

I truly enjoy working with individuals and family and being a part of the change process. As a mom to two teenagers, I understand the joys and struggles, love and frustration that are a part of the parenting journey. My ideal client is someone ready to take the necessary steps to make positive change in their life. I find physical activity and spending time in nature to be incredibly helpful for one’s well-being and try to prioritize both in my life and encourage my clients to do the same.
