As a clinical social worker I have supported clients of all ages. I have experience and comfort working with clients of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, having provided clinical services in both affluent suburbs and underserved urban neighborhoods. As a first generation Colombian American, I’m fluent in Spanish and have a deep appreciation of how family, race and culture influence a person’s values, identity and relationships.
I’m committed to continuously advancing my clinical skills and am certified in perinatal mood disorders through Postpartum Support International and also have advanced training in working with older adults through the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice. I am trained in EMDR, a strong evidence-based intervention, that I use to help clients heal from trauma that gets in the way of their life and relationships. My core strengths as a clinician include ease in building meaningful and trusting relationships and strong analytical skills to respond thoughtfully to complex situations.
I work with clients in-person at our Evanston office and virtually when preferred. Contact me at paula@casascounseling.com
